When I boot up my system, I recieve a FAILED message when eth0 loads.

I tried to compile the stable release of tulip.c (which came with the network card
on a disk) and I recieved an error that "there was an open-ended statement that
might cause me problems." When i remade my kernel, I recieved the same error (i
have been trying to copy what it says durring the make but it always passed too
quickly.)

basically, i don't mean to be a "nooge" but i would like to have my eth0 card
load when i boot into linux. I admit that right now I am a tad overwelmed with
linux, but I enjoy learning new things by playing around with them (although i am
finding that actually reading books and internet acticles has helped me
immensely.) I don't know if it is the case that I am just royally messing some
type of command up, or what.
