Hi all,
I had a system with 4 SCSI HD's.
/dev/sda = win98
/dev/sdb = Red Hat
LILO was working fine, until I added 3 IDE HD's
I wanted to change the timeout, so I edited the /etc/lilo.conf and executed
"lilo" again, it have me the following errors :
Warning: /dev/sda is not on the first disk
Warning: BIOS drive 0x83 may not be accessible
Added Linux *
Warning: BIOS drive 0x83 may not be accessible
Warning: BIOS drive 0x83 may not be accessible
Warning: BIOS drive 0x83 may not be accessible
Added Kernel2
Warning: BIOS drive 0x83 may not be accessible
Warning: BIOS drive 0x82 may not be accessible
Warning: BIOS drive 0x82 may not be accessible
Added dos
Since then @ boot time LILO hangs, it just says "LI_", I checked the docs
and they say it's because of a BIOS limitation that you have to put LILO on
the 1st or 2nd disk in your system. I don't know why it doesn't work cause
/dev/sda is the first disk in my system.
Since then I can only boot Linux with my boot disk.
Who knows why ?
I have R/W access to all SCSI & IDE disks once the system is up.
