I have asked this before, but I had major problems with my Email service
at the time, so this might have been answered. I will also reformulate
the question a bit.
When X Windows is part of the boot sequence (runlevel 5 in RH), it will
stop at a login.
I take it that this login is using the X server to output to the screen.
However, any other application trying to attach to the X server will be
refused, at least if they have DISPLAY=:0.0
My problem is, I have an application that needs X Windows running to
produce off-screen graphics for a web server. Is there anyway I can;
a) set the DISPLAY to point at a virtual, in-memory only, screen, or
b) turn off the denial of connection to the X Server on the local
interface, or
c) Modify the scripts so that the X starts without anything at boot
time, and startx/startkde scripts attach to that running X server
???
Thanks again.
