I have an NEC 486/75 - 500mb HD - floppy only - 8mb ram - laptop with a
3c589 lan card, I can't seem to get Red Hat or Slack Ware to find the card
to do an FTP install from my server. I have not found a mini distro to
install that supports that card. Tomsrtbt has support? but I couldn't get
it going. And all this because I removed a perfectly good, well, a working
copy of Win'95 :-)
I have the Red Hat 6.1 files on my NT server and did install them on a
desktop via ftp.
Speaking of NT, I know it's off topic but it could save someone several
hours of pain.
I installed the latest patch #6 for 4.0 and it refused connections to the
FTP server over the Internet from Netscape, but not IE5 or WS_FTP Pro. "
Hmmm... that's funny.... "
Also my East coast Bro-in-law installed this patch on one of their servers
and it would not release 4K of memory every time a formally functioning mail
program ran, but rolling back to the #5 patch fixed both problems.
