I installed RedHat Linux 6.1 and I cannot print anymore.
The printer is in lpt1 and it is configured at 378H/IRQ 7 in bios.
(Normal mode). This used to work with RH Linux 5x and no
hardware has changed since then.
I just "upgraded" the operating system with a fresh install and lost
printing. I selected printer support while installing, and the lpd
starts, so printing SHOULD be configured.
However kde system information does not show any IRQ 7 and it
does not show any I/O port 0378.
stty -a < /dev/lp1 (or lp0 or lp2) gives "no such device"
ls > /dev/lp1 does nothing
- What's the problem?
- How can I correct this easily without schredding my current
installation & customizations. ( It was a lengthy process )
