That didn't worry me too much as it's the original kernal put there by
RH.
I did change the extraversion number in makefile before doing the new
kernel.

I did, but....um I didn't use it. See my last post.

I have poked around in there.

Anyway I've been using the new kernel for a couple of hours now and it
seems to be Ok. Even Netscape (which I'm using now) hasn't crashed.
Kmail has downloaded all the packet bulls that have built up since I
changed over to RH last night.
So far it looks like all's well in my little corner of the world.
