In what way do you mean you shifted the partition,?? just what did you do,
copy all files from /dev/hda4 to /dev/hda3.????

Of course you cant boot, you have changed the structure of your whole
system, LILO knows nothing untill you tell it what has happend, that is
done by reflecting the changes in /etc/lilo.conf and rerunning lilo.

As for what Solaris may have done i dont know, i have never installed it.

You will need to use the boot/rescue disk sets you made during the origanal
install to get your linux system back.

Did you not even think about what would happen BEFORE changing things
around.?
