How did you do this? It's not exactly an off-the-shelf procedure. Offhand, I
can't even think of a way to do it (unless you just mean you copied all the
files on /dev/hda4 to /dev/hda3).

Without knowing more about how you "shifted" the Linux partition or why you
can't boot Linux, the only quick workaround I can think of is to boot the
system from a rescue disk (either the one that you made during your install,
or a generic one like tomsrtbt), and copy the files you can't afford to lose
to someplace safe and accessible.
