Hi all (again)
BTW: thanks for the previous answers.
Now it's question time again :-)
I've done a fresh install of RH6.2 after playing with 6.0 and I'm going to
do a bit of reading about kernel compilation. I'm a little vague about just
how much of a speed increase I'm going to get by compiling the source for my
Pentium 90 as type "586".
I'm thinking that going for type "386" or maybe "486" would be a good idea
in case I ever wanted to move my setup to a 486DX machine. (I already have a
spare 486).
Is speed the only issue to consider when making the decision about how
optimised a kernel should be ?
