I (and many others I've spoken with) totally agree with your comments. We should follow the usual mailing list standards, and keep the messages readable. Yeah.. Letting people know about the mailing list standards is pretty regular topic on almost all mailing lists. Once we have the wikipage links figured out, let's just start pointing people to those.
