It doesn't matter whether you use Perc5 or 6. One thing to consider is, that Perc6/e with most recent FW is able to handle multipath to MD which Perc5/e doesn't. Keep in mind that MD1000 has two modes -> split + joint bus. You can only use 2x Percs connected to MD in split mode. Jens. You can run a MD1000 either as an expansion unit for MD3000(i) (but not more than 2x per MD3000(i)) or as JBOD. The JBOD then can either be used on SAS5 HBA w/o RAID function or connected to any external Perc to enable you to run RAIDs.
