This is most likely due to the 1354 and 1352 being a “change in state”, versus a “status” message.
--Doc From: linux-poweredge-bounces-Lists On Behalf Of Mohd Noor Abdul Rashid Sent: Wednesday, January 20, 2010 12:52 AM To: linux-poweredge-Lists Subject: OMSA Event message Hi there I had a customer which depend on OMSA to monitor his Dell server hardware status. Recently he did power supply redundancy test and curious on the event message recorded where event id 1354 only comes one while 1306 was repeated several time Question 1. Is this expected behaviour ? as per my understand the event should be recorded in the system message file until it was rectify 2. Why event 1354 recorded only once while event 1306 was recorded multiple times ? 3. Customer also seek an explanation why after event id 1306 recorded twice, then event id 1354 record only once, whereas event 1354 is more crucial than 1306 4. Is there any default timing for the message to be re-occur and recorded in system message until the problem rectify, so that the message will be recorded in standard interval time Pasted below relevant portion from system message file ================================================= Jan 14 10:59:09 mzebk01u Server Administrator: Instrumentation Service EventID: 1306 Redundancy lost Redundancy unit: System Board PS Redundancy Chassis location: Main System Chassis Previous redundancy state was: Normal Jan 14 10:59:09 mzebk01u snmpd[2214]: Got trap from peer on fd 16 Jan 14 10:59:10 mzebk01u Server Administrator: Instrumentation Service EventID: 1306 Redundancy lost Redundancy unit: System Board PS Redundancy Chassis location: Main System Chassis Previous redundancy state was: Normal Jan 14 10:59:10 mzebk01u last message repeated 22 times Jan 14 10:59:10 mzebk01u Server Administrator: Instrumentation Service EventID: 1354 Power supply detected a failure Sensor location: PS 1 Status Chassis location: Main System Chassis Previous state was: OK (Normal) Power Supply type: AC Power Supply state: Presence detected, Failure detected, AC lost Jan 14 10:59:10 mzebk01u Server Administrator: Instrumentation Service EventID: 1306 Redundancy lost Redundancy unit: System Board PS Redundancy Chassis location: Main System Chassis Previous redundancy state was: Normal Jan 14 10:59:10 mzebk01u Server Administrator: Instrumentation Service EventID: 1306 Redundancy lost Redundancy unit: System Board PS Redundancy Chassis location: Main System Chassis Previous redundancy state was: Normal Jan 14 10:59:10 mzebk01u snmpd[2214]: Got trap from peer on fd 16 Jan 14 10:59:32 mzebk01u last message repeated 22 times Jan 14 10:59:33 mzebk01u Server Administrator: Instrumentation Service EventID: 1304 Redundancy regained Redundancy unit: System Board PS Redundancy Chassis location: Main System Chassis Previous redundancy state was: Lost Jan 14 10:59:33 mzebk01u last message repeated 44 times Jan 14 10:59:33 mzebk01u Server Administrator: Instrumentation Service EventID: 1352 Power supply returned to normal Sensor location: PS 1 Status Chassis location: Main System Chassis Previous state was: Critical (Failed) Power Supply type: AC Power Supply state: Presence detected Jan 14 10:59:33 mzebk01u Server Administrator: Instrumentation Service EventID: 1304 Redundancy regained Redundancy unit: System Board PS Redundancy Chassis location: Main System Chassis Previous redundancy state was: Lost ============================================================== Can't find relevant answer on dell support site http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/software/svradmin/5.4/en/messages/html/index.htm and http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/software/svradmin/5.4/en/index.htm .
