I've been on this mailing list for about 3 years. In that time, I've seen repeated questionable engineering decisions related to the Linux management ecosystem that Dell provides. I really don't want to rip on developers or decry their work, but my distrust of this product and other Linux products from Dell only grows as I see stuff like this released. If the engineers don't understand why it's a terrible idea to ship a shadow version of libz that replaces the system version, then the only suggestion I can offer is that Dell should hire some experienced enterprise system administrators that have veto power over engineering decisions like this. Ultimately it's an issue of understanding your target audience, but getting some of them on your team to avoid some of these missteps is probably the easiest way to start down that path. I really do understand that Dell is trying to provide value with DSU, but the problem is that the danger it presents to my environment far outweighs any value it might otherwise provide.
