I have a PE6850 with an embedded PERC 4e/Di which controls 5x73GB disks, which
are configured RAID10 plus one is set as a hot standby. This gives me near to
150GB for OS and application binaries.

Attempting to attach a PV220S which currently has 13x146GB disks as the main
storage for database files.

I put in two LSI20320-R HBA cards into the PE6850 in slots 2 and 6.

In theory this should be simple have the Adaptec PERC boot first and the LSI
cards after that, however I just cannot seem to get the boot order to work.

The LSI cards always come up first, even if I put it as the first in the Hard
drive sequence. I have tried disabling CD-ROM, floppy drive and all sorts of
things. I have even tried to build it with RHEL5U3 and it shows the RAID10 as a
logical device /dev/sdn. However when I complete the build GRUB tells me
that (hd13,0) is an invalid device.

On the BIOS options for Intergrated Devices I have set the PERC from CHANNEL A
= RAID & CHANNEL B = SCSI to both RAID, in fact I have tried both combinations.

On the LSI menu it only see the LSI cards and sees them as boot 0 & boot 1, I
have tried looking through all the menus to no avail.

On a PE2850 I have the LSI menu was not a problem as all cards were listed and
you could just sequence the order.

I have also on the OS front tried things like changing the modprobe order, etc,
etc.

I have been trying to solve this for over a week now and must have tried 20+
configurations with no success.

Now I am exhausted and my brain is soggy from reading all the documentation
trying to figure this out, can anyone save me from boot hell?
