True. And dozens of subscribers to the list ask the same two
questions about why they've failed to get it working.
I mentioned it only on the off chance there was a new subscriber or
two since last time it got mentioned. And because I find this
situation somewhat odd. Most free software packages I've worked
with would have a correction up, for such a simple but commonly
encountered problem, by now.
The "why the" question I ask is why the ppp maintainers haven't
fixed these two extremely simple problems and put up a ppp-2.3.6.
Either
-- None of them read this list, or
-- Nobody on the list has seen fit to forward the information, or
-- They have the information but don't think it important that
hundreds of people (based on the estimate that only one in ten
will complain) are frustrated in attempting to build this package, or
-- ppp-2.3.x is not at the moment actively maintained.
I can't believe nobody has attempted to contact the maintainers.
