I have the configuration that you suggest. +my win95 box is assigned an address that
is on the network I'm connecting to. +I have windows/hosts and windows/lmhosts file
entries for machines (WIN95 & Linux boxes) on the remote net. +I pass WINS server
address and DNS address through PPP options when dialing in. Problem is, when I
connect and check my network neighbourhood I see all the machines connected on the
subnet BUT I CANNOT BROWSE THEM, except for the Linux box I'm directly connected to
and my local machine.) Each time I try, I get a message on the remote box, stating
that the machine I'm trying to connect to cannot be found and that I should check the
spelling. My remote Linux PPP server also masquerades the remote network to the
internet. I'm wondering if the problem results from the use of IPFWADM?

Any suggestions??

You need to look at TCP/IP properties on the client and make sure that Netbios
over TCP/IP is checked. Unless you're specifically using them, I would delete
Netbeui and IPX/SPX. If you have Samba running as a WINS on the Linux
box, set your primary WINS address on the client to this IP.
