In my experience, the serial driver in 2.2 seems much pickier than the
one in 2.0 about port configuration. A number of people have reported
oddities in serial port behavior that went away when they stopped
using setserial to initialize; I had a program quit working because I
was telling setserial that a serial port was a 16550; changing the
config to 16550A brought it back.
