One thing wasn't clear to me from what you've said so far: Con you not
even ping the other side of your PPP connection by IP address
(129.170.40.12)? Or if they won't even let you do that, how about telnet
(by the raw IP address -- keep DNS out of it initially).

Thanks for your reply. I am sorry for not making this clear: yes, it is true that I
cannot ping the other side of the ppp connection. Nor can I telnet, email, ftp, or
use a web browser (even lynx).

I also apologize for the sloppy attachments. Since I cannot send email from Linux, I
have to save my data to a disk, and then either send it under windows, or using a Mac
at school. Neither one understands Linux file formats, and when I tried to save the
data and make it Windows friendly, Windows didn't like that either. I desperately
need to be able to telnet to school and transfer data back and forth, but right now
it's like I'm typing with both hands tied behind my back...

Thanks for you help,
Larry Gariepy
