Hi everyone!
I have a problem with a leased line, using two USR Courier V.Everything
Modems and a two wire leased line in between. (Yes I know it's slow but it
is affordable).
I use the script from Rob van der Putten (Leased Line Mini HOWTO).
Whenever I start the connection on both sides simultaneously, it works
very well. The line comes up, connects, an bingo I have a route, and a
connection.
However when one of the machine gets rebooted for whatever reason, the
script calls up the pppd and then the connection comes up, and immediately
dies.
I found this in the log file:

I am not sure I know what thi smeans. In fact I don't have a clue.
The options.ttySx file is rather slim, just the Remote and the Local IP
and the word modem.
I start the pppd without any flags other then debug.
On one machine I have pppd-2.2.0f on the other one pppd-2.3.3, both
machines running Linux 2.0.33.
I must say though, that I had the same problem with two machines using the
older one on both ends.

After all this I can start the connection with a dip on both sides, and
then a pppd call from the shell. That is somewhat tedious, and I owuld
like to automate the connection. Thus the scripts from the minihowto.
I hope someone knows what I am doing wrong. Please help if you can.
