But on the other hand, someone on the list may have the answer on the
"tip of their fingers" - because they've also run into the same
problem.
If they don't, then Andy is back where he started - forced to learn
more about Linux!
As Linux moves into mainstream computing community these types of
questions will become more prevalent. We need to not only be tolerant
of them, but we need to be pro-active on them. This is the quality of
a better support system than what is provided by most commercial
offerings.
And, as you mentioned, this is a community effort, so those who know
the answer should respond as quickly and concisely as possible. Some
of you have. (Keep up the good work people!)
However, I do agree that he should have read the HOW-TOs before
initially posting to the list. But I really don't believe the HOW-TO
addresses the problem he's having. He's tried everything everyone has
presented to him, yet he is still seeing the problem.
