i don't know if it worked. I did not test it . Anyway, thanks. But, can the other user see my LAN or only me? (me, as the dialup access computer)

Hi,

I hope you posted your reply to the list as well as I am looking for some help ;) and it is always good to be seen that you are there helping out as well..... Proxyarp should work. What happens when you do a netstat -r ? when you have a PPP user connected. But does it all work now though?

regards,

David

ok. thanks
it seemed that the command did the trick

ipfwadm -F -m -S 1.1.1.0

ps: but, how come the proxy ARP it's not working. i;ve read that the command puts an entry in the ARP table with the remote IP address and the hw-addr of the local ethernet card.

Well.... you'll need to have ipforwarding on... if this is RedHat 5.1.... try editing your /etc/sysconfig/network (or is it networking) file....   turn forwarding on.

Also try a "echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward".

Also do "ipfwadm -F -f". See if this helps. :-)

hello
i'm connected to a LAN and the only one whois is connected to the Internet wit a PPP connection is me.
But, i've tried to get ppp route packets over the lan to give access to all computers on the LAN. i've added the defaultroute and proxyarp option but pppd tells me:

Could not determine proxy ARP fot ethernet interface

i'm running Slackware 3.3, Linux 2.0.34 and ppp 2.3.4
