I'm running pppd 2.3.3 on a P166 with 48MB RAM running RH 5.1 (kernel
2.0.34). Yes, I know I need to upgrade but patiently waiting for 6.0
(2.2 kernel).

Just installed Vmware (http://www.vmware.com), the 80x86 emulator.
Don't know how many of you have played with it but it smokes! I now
have windows nt4 running in a box as an application under Linux where it
belongs. Now, when I get a blue screen of death, I simply restart the
emulator. The rest of my environment is unaffected.

So much for the rhetoric... I've observed that when vmware is running,
that my ppp connection goes to hell. I'm seeing 50%+ packet loss.
Could this be because the emulator is tasking resources (CPU, RAM,
etc.)?

If I shut it the emulator down, all is well.

Thanks.
