Hi,

Similar problem. I have RedHat 6.1, and it uses the same kernel
and ppp versions (2.2.12 and 2.3.10 respectively). I have similar
problems, I can ping, telnet, talk but any large data transfer (http, ftp,
smtp with large attachments) just doesn't work.
With all the large transfers the pattern is similar it goes on for
a while upto about 30-40 KB and then the transfer - be it http, ftp, smtp
- just freezes.
Now I have fallen back to RedHat 5.2 which works like a charm as
far as the ppp link is concerned.
        Hope this helps...

        Regards,
        Kedar.
PS - BTW for your specific problem, read the README.linux file in ppp
distro. It has info about the things you need to put into your
/etc/conf.modules to get things working - but you will still probably face
the problem I had.
