The chat handshake seems to be working fine. I turned on
debug mode for pppd and found that the script terminated in
the same place every time here are the last two lines before
hangup:

I am not an expert on pppd but it looks like the server asks
to assign me an IP and then when I reply it says I don't
understand and pukes on me...
