I'm not an expert. You've been warned. ;-)
I don't think that raidtab is anything but a reference
after the raid is created so adding the drive to raidtab
and restarting the raid would not work.

I imagine that since raidhotadd did not work then you have
no choice but to backup, recreate the raid with the new
drive and restore. I'm sure someone on this list can
confirm or deny this. I don't know of any docs that are
up-to-date enough to prove/disprove this.
