I'm pretty sure this is fixed in more recent kernels.  It's not a
driver issue, but an issue with the higher level SCSI code.  I think
you need at least 2.0.36.

A workaround is to disable the hot swap backplane by setting jumper J1
on the backplane to Force Update.
