Different and preferently using a different driver.
By the way, I am the maintainer of the ncr/sym53c8xx drivers. If you have
a 53C895 or 53C896 controller, this will fit, but any other LVD SCSI
controller well supported under Linux would help as well.
Donnot spend money if you haven't any other LVD controller. My suggestions
are indeed based on the fact you report that NT is driving fine that hard
disk.

I wrote 'controller side' or 'kernel/driver side' as a possibility to be
the place where the cause may be, but not that the controller was broken.
You wrote that NT works with the drive. If the drive was really broken
NT would for sure fail. If the drive had a firmware bug, then NT should
have some work-around Linux hasn't for this drive (I highly doubt of
that).
