I've heard of this being a problem for RH6.0 machines (a friend of mine
also couldn't use his Adaptec automatically) but as I recall, booting in
expert mode and explicitly requesting that the aic7xxx.o module be loaded
fixed it. I've installed RH6.0 with an Adaptec 2940UW without any
problems. Might be a subtle chipset difference that's causing it to not
auto-detect. If that doesn't do it for you, go to updates.redhat.com and
get the latest images... RedHat's known for screwing up their boot images
from time to time :)
