the bug didn't kill me, so I didn't make one, I think the SCSI generic
maintainer (whose name slips me at the moment) had a fix.
Basic problem was cdrecord mapped the high ids (8-15) onto id's 0-7 on
the second controller. I didn't have a unmanagble conflict (HD's on id
12,15 so mapped to 4,7 which weren't in use on my second controller).

not exactly, my machine config:
- Dual P-166 on a Tyan tomcat II w/64MB RAM (60ns set to run at 70ns)
(note this does give me slow memory speeds, had to set the memory
timings slow or else the tyan would freak -- shouldn't matter much but
in case we have a timing issue...)
- Adaptec 2940 UW with:
- Toshiba 6.7 CD
- AIWA NS-20 tape drive
- The yamaha 4416S CDRW
(all devices connected to the narrow internal connector)
- DPT 2144UW with:
- one IBM DORS-32160W 2.1GB
- two IBM DCAS-34330W 4.1GB
(external connector to a seperate SCSI tower)
- Netgear with a real DEC chip 10/100 NIC
- Vanilla ISA VGA card.
software:
RH5.2
kernel is a fresh build of straight 2.2.5
cdrecord is from the RH rpm (version 1.8a15)
Machine runs as a SMB/HTTP/FTP/NFS/MYSQL/CVS server
It also always has the rc5 client running.
I know I haven't been doing backups while using the CDRW, but I think
I've used the toshiba CD during a burn before.
