Date: Mon, 10 Jul 2000 13:27:13 GMT

Hi there,

I'm using WU-FTP are don't have the ftpaccess file activated (I can if
need be). I have the FTP up and running but here's the question. I want
all users in the group 'ftp' to automaticly bypass their home dir and go
directly to /home/ftp/pub. How do I do this?

            Thanks,
                Jevin

The upgrade process is very slow. My upgrade from 7.0 to 7.1 took
about 3 hours (PIII-450/128M). After a few weeks of running I decided
to do some repartitioning, and a full install of 7.1 took about 1
hour.

Backup /home & /etc then repartition and install, then restore needed
files.

Thanks.

Hi there,

I have an IBM PC 300GL model 6563 type 42G. This machine has an on-board
audio device (ESS allegro). I'm trying to have the audio device working
with RedHAT 6.2 but it seems that I'm missing the right drivers.

Can someone help me out to find the right drivers for this audio device
type ES1930S?

Thanks,

Eugene Marchand

I'm not sure really, that's what the boss wants...I'll talk to her about
it, cause I sort of agree it's not all that necessary

Subject: Installation problems with SSH on RH 6.2 (zoot)
Date: 10 Jul 2000 16:25:39 +0200

Hello,

I've got some problems with compiling certain packages like SSH
probably due to missing header files that includes error or status
codes.

sshconnect.c:374: `EADDRINUSE' undeclared (first use in this function)

If I hack this source file and initialise this variable to some value,
the package complains about some other undeclared variables. To me it
seems like the RH 6.2 (i386) distribution is missing or have a wrong
version of some header files (e.g. /usr/include).

I've searched various archives in an attempt to find description of a
similar problems with luck. I have included the output of the SSH
compilation as well as a description of the RPM packages present
(rpm -q -a).

Any help most welcome.

Cheers Sverre

This file describes how to install the Secure Shell (ssh). Secure Shell is
a replacement for rlogin and rsh. It seamlessly encrypts all communications,
provides improved security, and has useful new features.

INSTALLATION

For most machines and configurations, the following is all you need.

  ./configure
  make
  make install

In a networked environment with shared binary directory, it is enough
to do "make install" on one machine, and then "make hostinstall" on
others to generate host keys and install configuration files.

Then check (and edit if needed) the following files:
  /etc/sshd_config (server configuration file)
/etc/ssh_config (client configuration file - defaults for users)

You may also want to create the /etc/ssh_known_hosts for your site and update

Subject: Re: ES1930 LINUX audio drivers

Did you try sndconfig? What kind of sound driver did it come up with
during auto-probing?
Did you try the other ESS drivers such ESS1688, ESS1888, etc to see if they
work? Those ESS drivers might work because it could be compatible with
your chip.
Do you get sound but at wrong speed?
Post your results back here.

Subject: Brainbench Certifications on your resume?
Date: Mon, 10 Jul 2000 10:47:43 -0400

I had an interview the other day and the interviewer was impressed with my
Brainbench certifications in Linux Administrator and Red Hat Administrator.
I took them for the hell of it but the interviewer had heard of Brainbench
and took the certificiaitons very seriously. Have you all had any
experience with these certifications?

They are in the src.rpm as well, and wind up in /usr/src/redhat/SOURCES.
Good to know they are in both places.
