Subject: Problems with cable modem connection
Date: Thu, 10 Aug 2000 14:35:48 -0500
I have a working internet sharing network with a cable modem to win98
machine running NAT1000 hooked up to other pcs and a linux box. I can access
internet on all boxes including the linux box. I would like to use the linux
box as a server with MASQ. Problem is when I try to hook up the cable modem
to the linux box eth0 fails. Eth0 is set up for dhcp and works fine off the
win98 machine. I have redhat 6.1.
Any help would be appriciated.

I have read elsewhere that this message is misleading--that the
actual cause is that you have exceded the 1024 cylinder limit for the
boot partition. Older BIOS and older versions of LILO only support
booting within the first 1024 cylinders on one of the first two IDE
drives (hda, hdb).

Hi, Thats exactly what I needed. I have a couple more questions
though. When I made my certificate, I needed to give it a FQDN(I think
thats how you speel it, its your hostname) I could only give it one.
The way we have our clients connecting is via regular ip (192.168.0.x
and 192.168.1.x) I could use my machines name instead, but sometimes the
lookups don't always work. We aren't using DNS, but Netbios/SMB. And
as you noticed we have 2 different subnets (192.168.0.x and 192.168.1.x)
whcih cant be on the same subnet because they use 2 different
topologies(ethernet and VGAnyLAN). Do you have any suggestions or is
there a way to put multiple FQDNs? And my other question is what should
have been my encryption have been with the setup I described to you? I
thought it would come out as 128-bit seeing as I was using OpenSSL, but
it came out as 56-bit. Thanks for the help.

1 more question, what port will netscape use if I choose the option to use
SSL for outgoing mail(SMTP)? use port 25? Does this mean I need to use
stunnel with SMTP or......?

What's your problem? Invest in some shares at pre IPO prices. Sell them
post IPO.
To get offered shares at pre IPO prices, contribute free software
that is packaged by said IPOco.

It is plug and play actually. I don't follow you regarding setting the
IRQ. The setup string(s) that modprobe uses in conf.modules has a parm
in there for the IRQ already. Doesn't modprobe do the init?

I am trying to get apache-ssl running. I tried a sym link to
/usr/bin/perl, but that does not work. I was going to modify the spurce
code for the rpm, but both /usr/bin/perl and /usr/local/bin/perl5 are
listed in the files required for apache-ssl.

Hi folks
Hoping someone can help me. I am running RedHat 6.2 using Gnome as my
interface. All runs well but I have been unable to set up to access My
Windows drive when it is set up with a FAT32 filesystem. It can access it
fine if I use a FAT16 file system for Windows, but if it is set up as a FAT
32, Linuxconfig in Gnome does not find the drives.
The drives are all recognised in the bootup text when Linux starts even when
using FAT32 as the filesystem, just not in the Linuxconfig .
