Just a thought for you. I have no idea if it will work or not.

You could try to assign an IP alias to your nic. A private network ip
like 192.168.0.1, then have your NamedVirtualHost directive set to your
private IP, and BindAddress to *

Don't know if it will work, but it's worth a try.

Check out your cron scripts and config files: /etc/crontab, /var/spool/cron,
and possibly /etc/cron.hourly /etc/cron.daily etc....

Somewhere you will find an attempt to access the above files as a
nonpriviledged user. Also examine the file /var/lib/logrotate.status and
delete it if you can not correct the corruption in it.

A Daily Quip, Quote, or Fortune:
"Emergency!" Sgiggs screamed, ejecting himself from the tub like it was
a burning car. "Dial 'one'! Get room service! Code red!" Stiggs was on
the phone immediately, ordering more rose blossoms, because, according to
him, the ones floating in the tub had suddenly lost their smell. "I demand
smell," he shrilled. "I expecting total uninterrupted smell from these
f*cking roses."

Unfortunately, the service captain didn't realize that the Stiggs situation
involved fifty roses. "What am I going to do with this?" Stiggs sneered at
the weaseling hotel goon when he appeared at our door holding a single flower
floating in a brandy glass. Stiggs's tirade was great. "Do you see this
bathtub? Do you notice any difference between the size of the tub and the
size of that spindly wad of petals in your hand? I need total bath coverage.
I need a completely solid layer of roses all around me like puffing factories
of smell, attacking me with their smell and power-ramming big stinking
concentrations of rose odor up my nostrils until I'm wasted with pleasure."
It wasn't long before we got so dissatisfied with this incompetence that we
bolted.

Hello,

Well I have a AMD Athalon 600MHz on a Gigabyte MB, 128Megs SDRAM, 15Gig
Fast ATA HD. I'm running RedHat 6.2 with "ATI|Rage 128 RF" video for X.
Also under X I'm using Enlightenment. I figured there would be about a
million vars to tweek so just some docs on increasing performance may be
helpful for me. I'll try recompiling the kernel.

thanks

I'm trying to get my cable modem working with RH6.0. I have an SMC Ethernet
card but it's an ISA card :-(

I'm trying to use isapnp to configure the card. I've been able to set the
IRQ but can't seem to find an address that works. In Windows, the card is
at IRQ 11 with an address of 0x240. This won't work in Linux. I can get
the card set to IRQ 10 but not the address. The isapnp.conf created with
pnpdump sees the card and specifies the range to be between 0x200 and 03c0.
The isapnp.gone file shows that most of this range is not used.

Is there a way to probe this card to find the correct address?

Hello,
Relatively new at this, and I have a dual pentium machine with a 45
GB hard drive that used to have a Promise Controller connected to it.
Since I recently acquired the system administration responsibilities
here, I took out the promise controller and removed the partitions that
did exist on the drive (they were all Linux partitions), for the purpose
of starting from scratch to see if I could successfully install RedHat
on this dual chip machine, and then put the promise controller on it.

Now that you have the background, here's my problem. I used Partition
Magic to remove the partitions, and I have been trying to create new
partitions using the RedHat installer. I can create the /, /usr, /home,
and additional linux native partitions, but I can't create the Linux
Swap partition. I have 1 GB of RAM, so I'm using a 1GB Swap partition.
Whenever RedHat gets to initializing the swap partition, I get the
following error:

Is there something obvious I'm overlooking? Sorry about the lengthy

I ran make menuconfig on my new 2.2.17 kernel and supermount is not an
option.
Is it something that mandrake put into their kernel?

Or is it a patch from a more advanced kernel, as USB support is?
(If I run make menuconfig on the 2.2.15-mdk kernel I can see supermount
support listed)
Strange....

The symptoms are a bit too vague to be useful, but as a start, as root run
Suse's configuration tool "yast" from a command prompt. Work your way
through the menus to "system administration" and from there to "integrate
hardware into system" then to "mouse" See whether there is an option that
covers your system's particular mouse. If there is, choose it and let yast
attempt to set it up.

Which version of the FAQ didn't mention this? From the included
NVIDIA_Linux.html (v0.9.4 tarball):

IMPORTANT! This RPM may have some conflicts with some Mesa rpms.
Because there are multiple Mesa rpm distributions and there is no
standard in naming of the Mesa rpms, libraries, and their location, we
are not listing Mesa rpms as incompatible with our rpm. It is your
responsibility to remove previously installed Mesa RPMS, or rename
Mesa files that conflict with ours. Our rpm, however, will try to
notify you that these conflicts exist, on a file-by-file basis.

Specifically, the following files may cause problems:

/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/libGLcore.a
/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/libglx.a
/usr/lib/libGL.so
/usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.so*
/usr/X11R6/lib/libGLcore.so*

How big is your filesystem? Now you know why I always put /home on
a seperate partition...this may well be a case where a journalling
FS would have saved you a great deal of pain.

+ Besides, you having no problems with the drivers only means that your
