How can I create binfmt_misc dir in /proc/sys/fs ?
/proc is mounted with none device.

I'd love to insert a few binary formats as described in
/usr/src/linux/Documentation/binfmt_misc.txt while the support is
compiled in as CONFIG_BINFMT_MISC=m.

Thanx.

With the driver commented out will it still crash in a few minutes if yes then
it could be a hardware issue if no then it is the driver.

1) When I tried to mount / the 3 HD was unchecked when I tried to select it
again I got an error message. RedHat 6.0 does not allow that you mount / to
the 3. HD.

2) What I did was to copy the first 512kb of the Linux HD to a file and
moved it to the first HD. Then the win2000 boot manager can use it to boot
Linux.

Did their default shell change? It looks like it is getting errors
in the users hidden startup files (ie. .profile, .login, etc)

do a 'ls /home/xxx/ -a' (where xxx is the users name) to see the
files starting with a dot. You may need to change them from
'csh' code to 'bash' code if the shell was changed from csh to
bash. (or whatever it was changed from/to)

Or else, you can change their default shell back to what it
was originally.

As a quick and dirty test, you could delete/rename/move one users
dot files and see if you can log in ok. (make sure you can
restore them afterwards)

the PATH is probably screwed up due to problems with the login scripts.
Try giving the entire path in the command, like '/bin/echo xxx'

Subject: Linux-Mandrake totally unstable?
Date: Tue, 12 Sep 2000 15:28:40 GMT

I have an AMD K6-3 400 with FIC PA 2013 motherboard. A year ago I created
a linux partition on what used to be a single boot Windows98 machine. The
first time I installed Linux mandrake 6.5 everything went smoothly. No
crashes, no hangs - perfect. Then Windows needed a reinstall which also
forced me to reinstall linux. I first tried 6.5, went fine. Then I had
to change video card from Voodoo 3 2000 to ATI Xpert98 (cheap motherboard
won't run Voodoo card). So I reinstalled mandrake 6.5 again. It worked
but Linux (over many sessions) progressively became unstable. I purchased
Mandrake 7.1 and installed that over 6.5 and the problem kept getting
progressively worse. It took many cycles of trying to install Mandrake -
crash - reboot, before it finally installed. However after two days of
using linux, the system started crashing at shorter and shorter
intervals. Now, it won't boot to linux-period. Linux won't reinstall -
period. Windows 98 works fine, no crashes, all hardware works without a
hitch. What is going on here?

I had the same problem with xcdroast .
The problem with me was that I had the wrong mounting point for writing the
image files.
You can log in as root and change the setup (don't forget to save).
If you have a SCSI harddisk you can cannot chose this as a mounting point,
and there are several forbidden points.
I hope this helps it did with me.
