Mount a floppy drive, cd to a directory on the floppy,
then go to another terminal and try to unmount the floppy
you'll get exactly the same error message.

Make sure that your current working directory isn't one of
the raid partitions, or maybe you can even specify the
partition on the command line and shut them down one
by one or even all at once, make sure no xterm or terminal
has one of these partitions as it's working directory.

I hope I understood the nature of the problem and that this
is of some help.

You might want to try 'g++' rather than 'gcc'. I think 'gcc' is the C front
end and 'g++' is the C++ front end.

wondering if i can make this work:

current setup:

host: SCO Unix OSR5.05 running database
host site: site 1 - serial connections but will be doing ip also
when connecting to site 2
remote sites: site 2 - moving to ip connections via xdsl
site 3 - serial connections only

--will be using xdsl connectivity for sites 2,

will setup linux server a site 2 w/ same data as host.
site 2 will connect to site 1 via xdsl
sites 6 & 7 will connect to site 2 via xdsl
sites 3-5 will connect using frame relay/ptp 56k

sites 6 & 7 will be updating database on linux server. sites 3-5 will
updating database on sco unix. both boxes need to be replicating their data
in "real time" as there's only one db. all sites need access to all updated
data at any time.

summary:

does linux do replication? what pkg is available for this? has any one
else done a unix - linux - unix replication setup?

any help is appreciated.

I'd advise you to get the source codes and compile apache and mod_ssl (and
openssl in that case) for yourself. It's easy, believe me. Just follow the
installation instructions provided. I've done it and it works great.

It is saying that the partition that the /tmp directory resides in isn't big
enough.

If you have an available partition that has more free space, you could link /tmp
to it. Empty out /tmp and then mount the free partition to it.

Help. :-) I threw together a computer from old parts lying around my room,
and want to install linux on it. Problem I'm having is that the system will
not boot from cd-rom. I created a boot disk from the cdrom.img file but
still no go. The system keeps trying to boot from floppy. The cd-rom is an
old panasonic cr-562b or something. It is NOT an IDE cd-rom, it has it's
own proprietary card. The boot: prompt is staring me in the face and I
don't know how to pass on the info to boot from the cd-rom. My IO is 0x340h
and the IRQ is 9. I tried cd=0x340h,9 in a futile kind of guess. :-)

 Thanks in advance.

I have been thinking about this same problem. First, since there is no
host: header (or equivalent) for POP3, you will have to include the host
in the email address -- ie, have people use the "user name"
[EMAIL PROTECTED] for checking their mail.
I have seen patches which do this with varying degrees of success for
qpopper; I do not know if it has been done for vpop3d.
An alternative I was considering was to hack the PAM (for systems which
implement it). I don't know if it would work, but if we could make a PAM
module which took a login name and resolved it to a user via /etc/aliases,
it should work... I think.

if you chose Mandrake...even though you might have had a brief mental
block...
your brain must still be functioning pretty well.
i would definately recommend dual booting...and see no reason at all why you
should not contiune
using Windows too...the more operating systems you have, the better.
each one has it's place...
and as good as linux is... it can't do *everything* (yet)

just make sure that you in fact have a partiton (rather than free space) to
install linux.

when you get the the installation, i've always had better luck deleting the
spare partition
to create the free space to add your linux partitions.

What do your system logs show? Usually, there is some kind of error written
to /var/log/messages or /var/log/syslog, etc. when an NFS mount is denied.

That depends on your kernel. It _probably_ does, but you should check to
make sure.

I don't believe Windows 98 has a built-in NFS client. There are clients out
there, and some of them are rather expensive. If you want to access data
to/from Windows and Linux, Samba is usually the method of choice.

You can try to install minimum of distro suporting HPT370 like Gentus , later
write down from /var/log/messages parameters of ide2 or ide3, and then pass
them to the kernel during booting distro you want to install.

like this (example you have to have your value)

boot: linux ide2=0x8056, 0x8750

hello,

I'm looking for a little help.

My setup:
Initio, ini9090u scsi host adpter connected to
    Yamaha 8824S CD-RW
    Debian 2.2

also I have a second SCSI host adapter (advansys 3940U2W) , I'm not sure if
it's relevant. I couldn't boot up even when I yanked this host.

Linux seems to detect all of my SCSI devices correctly during boot up as I
see something like this on screen

scsi0: Advansys SCSI 3.2M: PCI Ultra2-Wide: BIOS C8000/7FFF, io A400/FF,
IRQ9
scsi1: Initio INI-9X00U/UW SCSI device driver; Revision 1.03g
scsi : 2hosts
vendor : Quantum drive .... (connected to the Advansys host)
then it shows what's connected to the Initio host...

    vendor Fujitsu model: etc etc
Detected scsi disk sdb at scsi1, chanell 0, id 0,lun 0

    vendor YAMAHA model CRW88824S etc
    type CD-ROM etc
Detected scsi CD-rom sr0 at scsi1, channel 0, id1 ,lun 0

then the system freezes.

I can boot with any and all devices except when the Yamaha CD-RW is
attached. ex advansys+sda+intio+sdb, initio+sdb ... so I'm pretty sure it's
the yamaha CD-RW that's the problem. The CD-RW works fine when I run Win98.

What measures can I take to get my system up and running?
