download the newest lilo, 21.x. It supports having the boot image beyond
1024 cylinders. In the mean time u can try what the other poster said.

I have installed Mandrake 7.0 on a P133. When I bring up DrakConf
which is the gui configuration tool and select Resolution, I find that
I only have a choice of 640x480. I have an NEC Multisync XF17 on this
machine. Can anyone help me improve my resolution. Otherwise most
everything seems to be working very well.

no you wont have to work the bios at all
lilo on the master drive will just look to /dev/hdb for the boot record
there and if windows is the only thing on it then it will boot straight to
windows

image=/boot/vmlinuz-2.2.12-20
        label=linux
        initrd=/boot/initrd-2.2.12-20.img

        vga=788
other=/dev/hdb1
        label=windows
        table=/dev/hdb

and its just that easy

No, it doesn't. Apparently it is just missing... And that flickering at
the bottom is an indication that something is wrong I think. I can't
find what's wrong though.

Well, I have had very good luck with the Intel Etherexpress Pro 100+ cards for
several years. I use them for NAT/firewalling, regular use, etc. The
kernel drivers are pretty good these days, but you can also get even better
drivers from Mr. Becker at the scyld website. I don't know that Mr. Becker
reads these groups; but I would like to say "thanks for everything!" His
drivers and updates have been quite useful and I appreciate the amount of
effort and dedication he puts into these cards.

So, if you have a hankering, try out the Etherexpress cards. These have
worked fine for me for several years.

NTP works great if you have a fulltime connection to the net. As an
example, I use NTP to connect to a timeserver on a server which has a
fulltime connection. Then I install something like ntpdate which I run as a
cron job every few hours against my local box; which now acts as a time
server for my home network. I believe that NTPdate works better if you do
not have a fulltime network connection (like dialup ppp).

Just ImO, and YMMV :)

I would check out the /etc/pcmcia/config.opts file and see what io addresses
you are flagging and which ones you are removing from use. Are you using
the pcmcia stuff which ships with storm? I use debian woody and potato here
and always compile both the kernel and pcmcia stuff from sources and have
had pretty good luck lately.

Subject: Q: Setting default keymap
Date: Mon, 6 Nov 2000 09:51:54 +0100

Could someone please tell me about the default keymap (I think its called
that) and how to set it?

I'm using a swedish keyboard, and would like my RedHat 6.0 to realize this
at the initial, non-X login.
The problem might be that there is no instructions at all for keyboards, so
that the system uses a us layout by default.
If that's so, I'd like to know what the file specifying keymap is named and
its format.

Grateful for answers. I've looked for answers to this on the web, but how
only gotten marginally wiser.

THEO.

    Fooled me too, Kev. Actually, the change in hierarchy is documented.
After about -test5 or so, was when this all changed. It requires the latest
modutils, to know about the directory layout changes.

On RedHat there is a cron job running which uses 'tmpwatch' command, as
default it checks once a day which files are rather old and deletes them. If
you primarely use your box as a desktop it's best to let the script run more
often, eg. every hour. I suggest you have a look at your cronjobs and if
there is no automatic schedule, get 'tmpwatch' command and schedule....or
increase the frequency.
