If your ISP is using NAT on their router, you will not be able to get mail
in to your sendmail from the outside no matter how hard you try. You may be
able to use your sendmail as an outgoing SMTP server, but don't expect to
get any mail back.

Todd,
<snip> from /usr/doc/liloxxxxxx/README
LI The first stage boot loader was able to load the second stage boot
loader, but has failed to execute it. This can either be caused by a
geometry mismatch or by moving /boot/boot.b without running the map
installer.
<snip>
If you made a rescue disk when you did the install, boot off it and run lilo
when the computer comes up. This may fix your problem.

Can anyone offer some good adivise on a bakup design for linux?
Right now I have RH 6.2 with a Seagate Tavan 10G SCSI drive. /home is
on its own partition on the HD. / is also on its own partition.
My current method uses cron to run a backup script once per day.
The script copies important critical files such as shadow, passwd, etc
to /home/backup. I do this because I cant get dump to save / and /home
to the same tape.
I also can get incrementals to work to the script rewinds and erases the
tape each time.
I am open to ideas. Please help!!!

from the 3dfx site it looks like jazz card are just voodoo card made by

This is the fstab on the client machine right? Since it wouldn't make
much sense to import the NFS mount back on to the server.
So when the NFS system is started up on the server the server hangs?
First thing to do is to disable the NFS startup script and to try and
start it up manually.
e.g. #> portmap
#> rpc.mountd
#> rpc.nfsd
then
#> rpcinfo -p
to make sure that everything is able to start up properly.
Another thing to check is that your /etc/exports file is set up
correctly I'm not quite sure how to do this to make an NFS share
available to a whole network but the NFS-HOWTO at www.linuxdocs.org can
probably tell you (if you don't already know)

But I thought Corel Linux is the easiest/most friendly Linux distribution?

Linux. Any way to solve my problem? Anyone, please???

I had a huge mess with modules during my attempt at getting 2.4.0-test11 to
compile. The compile went fine, and I could reboot on the new kernel from a
test disk (make bzdisk).
I suspected there was a problem with my modutils so I downloaded and
installed the new one (yay, Debian - apt-get install modutils), heeded the
stuff about paths (but I don't seem to have any paths in my stuff anyway).
But on make modules; make modules_install tries to rebuild all the targets
again (I think, not sure if I'm reading that right, bit of a newbie). Then
it apparently runs depmod which spews out heaps of complaints. not an ELF
binary etc etc.
Someone suggested ignoring the module messages and compiling again with the
new kernel running. Did that but still no dice. It looks like (not sure
again) maybe there's an undefined symbol for every line in the system.map??
Went past pretty quick.
Think I'll wait 'til its out of test, even tho' there's some juicy features
in there, with USB support, specific support for my particular VIA chipset
etc etc.

Well, you have to re-partition the disk with fdisk (create a single
partition that occupies the whole disk). Then, you'll be left with a blank
partition on your HDD.
Start the WinNT installation process (with boot floppies?) and it should
detect that partition automatically, format it with NTFS and use it.

If you don't want to keep the one you have installed now, just install over
it. If you get asked about formatting or erasing the partition, say yes.
