From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Tony)

I am using LoadLin on W2K Adv Server. I have also created a boot floppy
without a problem. I would not have Lilo do the booting though as W2k and
LiLo do not like each other.

You can get LoadLin by doing a google search for Loadlin. I am using 1.1.6
(I believe that is the version number). Copy your kernal from /boot to the
DOS/W2k directory where LoadLin is installed. Modify the Loadlin bat File.

Your base file system should be FAT16 or FAT32 to have read/write access
under Linux. When I created my system, I re-sys'd the C drive with Win98,
then installed W2K on top of that. That way, the NT Loader thinks I have
DOS installed and this is what allows me to boot to a DOS prompt to run my
Linux BAT.

You apparently neglected to read the docs about ScriptAlias. Should be:

     ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ /vhome/tek-1.com/cgi-bin/

> Options ExecCgi Includes Indexes
></VirtualHost>

Also read the docs about UseCanonicalName. You have that set so any
redirects always go to the main ServerName, which apparently is NOT what
you want.

The rest got rather munged because it was a mixture of quoted printable
passed though some news server that couldn't handle it, and html which
added nothing.

The system 'date' can only be changed by root or a user running as
root. But it could be automatically updated from something like ntpdate
(from xntp package) in a network or pppd related script or root crontab.

Not sure what the effect making date suid root would have, but if you did
that, you would certainly want to limit that to a specific group.

Subject: user password and telnet

Hello,

I have encountered a problem and wonder if anyone could shade some
light.

I am using Redhat 6.2. I have created several user accounts on my
machine
and set different password for each account. But I am unable to use
telnet
or rlogin to login to any user account using its own password. The only
way
I can login to an account is to use the root password. The root password
seems to work for any user account.

I used useradd and passwd commands to add users and set their passwords.
I have also used linuxconf to do the same. The results are the same.

Do any one know why this is so and how to rectify the problem.

Thanks,
Hong Xie

Looks like it's trying to compile a kernel for an SMP architecture.. do
you have such a beast ? (more than one CPU).
Did you configure the kernel first ?
Did you run "make dep" then "make clean" then "make bzImage" ?

Greetings,
I have what should be a simple question here. I have a Windows 2000 NTFS
partition I'd like to make available over the network (samba, FTP, telnet,
etc.). I have successfullly mounted the partition by compiling read only
support into the kernel, and adding the entry to fstab, but it is mounted as
read only to root, but no one else. Doing a chmod results in an error
stating 'read only filesystem'. So how do I mount this thing as read only to
everyone? Thanks,

and in my home:
bash#ls
?r-S--S-wx 7369 58647 27169 4294967295 Feb 9 1953 www
I am not allowed to do anything to this 'www' even with root:(

I have searched deja but not really helpful. Once saw in kernel list
mentioned inode magic dtime stuff.
Any help/suggestion will be appreciated.
Shame on me keep using Windows for last several days due to this. Although
