2000 automatically loads with no option to load Linux.
What do you mean "add it"? Bear with me, this is my first exposure to Linux.

Great idea, but I am not sure it applies to my situation. I had all my web
stuff running on an older server. This problem started when I switched
servers and started using the latest Apache.
My guess is that I have one or more of the following problems:
I do not have the httpd.conf file set up correctly yet.
and/or
I do not have the DNS working correctly yet.
If someone can send me a sample of the latest version httpd.conf file with
some VirtualHosts filled in, I can set mine up similarly and reduce the
likelihood of that being a problem. Then if it still doesn't work, maybe I
can try looking elsewhere? Any ideas?

I am assuming that you mean in the httpd.conf file. If so, I have fiddled
with that quite a bit and get no different responses. If not, then let me
know where else I can adjust that.

Hi!
Since yesterday I'm the owner of an Abit KT-/ RAID (with the onboard
HighPoint-Tech HPT370 Ultra-ATA 100 RAID controller).
How can I install RedHat 7 (kernel 2.2.16) on a HD connected to this
controller (to uses UDMA-5)?
I get the message, that now drive for creating partitions could be found.
That may be because the kernel doesn't recognize the drives connected to the
controller.
So: What I have to do to get this running (without buying a third HD for
Linux and connect it to "normal" IDE)?

I have a strange problem. Ocaisonally when I boot up my machine (about 1 in
5 but it seems random) my keyboard and mouse don't work. This is whether I
boot into console or graphical login mode. I am sure it is not a hardware
problem as the keyboard, at least, always works at the lilo prompt.
Anyone any ideas what the problem may be ?

This is the info we need. Unless you tell us, we cannot give good advise.
You need to setup a dual boot system. With win2000 (NT5) you have two
choices. Either use the NTloader as your main bootloader, or use LILO (LInux
LOader). I prefer the latter, but the first is better documented. Go to
www.google.com/linux and search for "NT loader HOWTO linux"
This will turn up some good info on how to setup your dual boot system

Well, thanks to the guy who replied about the system map, that is fixed. I
copied System.map from /usr/src/linux to /boot/System.map-2.2.18. It had
to be in the base /boot directory, and not in /boot/2.2.18 where I kept the
kernel image.
As for the character device 4 missing, I delved into modules.conf and found
the line
"alias char-major-4 serial"
and changed that to
"alias char-major-4 off".
After, I had to run "depmod -a" to bring the system up to sync.
