Try looking at www.intel.com. I think I downloaded it from there. I busted
my chops for 2 weeks trying to figure out how to get my 810 working. Yup,
now that I looked, here is the specific web address to go to to get the
agpgart.o source:
http://appsr.intel.com/scripts-df/Filter_Results.asp?strOSs=39&strTypes=DRV,
UTL&ProductID=178
There is an associated "release_notes.pdf" file to download as well, and I
have it, and it tells you how to compile the source rpm files and how to set
up the XFree86 stuff - but, to be honest with you, this file wasn't helpful
beyond compiling the source... and, you know Murphy's Law, I can't find all
the documentation I downloaded and printed on the subject. That should get
you on the right track, though...
Hope I was helpful. Best of luck to you.

Hello There,
Try the following:
1. Verify your computer configuration meets the minimum requirements as
documented in Documentation/Changes
2. Try to patch your kernel to Linux-2.4.0-test12, and see if the problem
still persists.
All the best.

Hi guys - I've made attempts to answer a couple of other people's questions
on here tonight, but now I have one of my own...
I just installed the new KDE 2.0.1 because I thought Gnome was doing
something weird - the screen scrolls, and I hate it. You move your mouse to
the bottom of the screen, and your desktop icons scroll up and then you get
your taskbar at the bottom. SO...I installed KDE to see if it was
Gnome-specific, and it's not. Is there any way to cut this off? It's
driving me nuts. It scrolls to the left and right, too... <sigh>
My resolution is 1280x1024 on an Intel i810 chipset (yeah, yeah, yeah - I
know - an i810 - and I figured that one out without asking any questions
here). Also, I'm running RH 6.2 with a 2-3 week old 2.2.16 kernel
(installed that myself, too - I'm getting into this whole Linux thing!).
<Modesty Mode On> :) Now if I can just get past those darn panels and
layouts in Java, I'll be doing good! :)
As most everyone here does, I appreciate whatever pointers you can offer -
and I promise to continue to help others on this forum when I have answers
for them! :)
Thanks.

Correct. I did the same thing in version 7.1. Now I have version 7.2 and no
kppp. For some obscure reason kdenetwork - *.rpm was not installed and
this new way of configuring the network showed up in DrakConf. I have every
reason to conclude that this superceded the previous method and that it
should work when it appears to do the same thing. So, does that mean that
one should not use DrakConf to configure the network?
Thanks for your input,

Hello Peter,
Mandrake 7.2 installs KDE2, and KDE2 has a new program called "Internet
Dialer", which is the good old Kppp + new features.

Try to find a friend who has a rescue disk, otherwise boot from CDROM if
possible. Adjust your /etc/lilo.conf, run lilo and boot again

yep... I'm going to grab the Slackware for sparc when I go to work again
(fast connection).
just for trivia - I have a Sparc 10... had RedHat 6.1 sparc installed
first... most recently (currently) SuSE 7.0 sparc... and I'll more than
likely move to Slackware for keeps since that is also what I run on x86.
I'm not running mission-critical applications on the Sparc 10... but it's
just more fun than Solaris ;-)
oh yeah... I have dual processors and the SMP kernels have always worked
fine.

Well, the problem was that the kdenetconfig pack was not installed. Now
it is and the Kppp works as before. I will still look at DrakConf.
I think we should not assume that an installation program - even as good
as Mandrake's - will install everything that's needed. I think I learned
a lesson here (again :)

I have a similar chip LNE100TX (rev 20) from a different nic manufacturer
(Netgear) and the tulip module should automatically do the right thing
based on what you are connected to. With the newest 2.2.x kernels (2.2.17
in my case) I have to use the old_tulip module for it to work properly.
What are you connected to (hub, switch?) and does it specifically say it
can do more than 10mb? With a simple hub 10mb half-duplex is the best you
can do. With a high speed hub you should be able to do 100mb half-duplex.
To do 100mb full-duplex, you have to use a switch or direct nic to nic
crossover cable. Using old_tulip on my PC with my laptop connected by
crossover cable, tulip-diag says:
tulip-diag.c:v2.04 9/26/2000 Donald Becker ([EMAIL PROTECTED])
http://www.scyld.com/diag/index.html
Index #1: Found a Lite-On 82c168 PNIC adapter at 0x6100.
Port selection is MII, full-duplex.
Transmit started, Receive started, full-duplex.
The Rx process state is 'Waiting for packets'.
The Tx process state is 'Idle'.
The transmit unit is set to store-and-forward.

Neil,
This sounds like a job for IP-Masquerading. Set the linux server up with
lP masquerading, and give it a DNS server in /etc/resolv.conf. That should
get you started. You can also look at www.linuxdoc.org for various server
related documents.

even though you say you have 1024x768 resolutions, are you sure you are at
that resolution when you are running XF86?
The default desktop size in X is 1024x768... so if your video setting is set
for lower than that (say 800x600 or 640x480) then when you move the mouse to
the edges it will scroll the screen.
Did you know you can press <ctrl><alt>+ or <ctrl><alt>- to change video
resolutions while you are in X? (oh... use the + or - on the numberpad, not
the one on the main keyboard section)
Did that help? if not, you can alter the XF86Config file and add a line
that says: virtual 640x480 to set the virtual desktop to a lower size. I
use debian, and the file is located in /etc/X11 directory

I see, I did that then and now it boots from the recompiled image. I know
it's booting from the recompiled image since it's the default image in
lilo.
Yet now it's back to the old problem- no APM in the kernel (this is what
the command apm reports). Well, that's not really an old problem but a
new problem since it was supposed to be a routine matter to compile in
the APM support. I clicked the APM kernel option in make menuconfig,
and recompiled. I finally got the boot loader to register the new image
which
I know has something new in it since it's a bit larger than the old one.
Yet
still no APM! The bios certainly has all the support for APM, since I
looked
and the computer was manufactured in the middle of 2000.
Thanks in advance for any more suggestions you might have.

Yes the resolution is fine and I can see the ok button however when I click it
it says "host name unknown" and won't let me do anything other than cancel.Q
Q do I put localhot.localdomain here??
others have indicated I should do nothing and when I do nothing I click on
Netscape I get the following "The fo,lowing host is unknown ...
localhost.localdomain, home.netscape.com " and another error message " netscape
unable to locate server www.redhat.com" thats after clicking on the link in for

I didn't specify that I am using KDE as a window manager...
any other thoughts would be apreciated
