gpart doesn't use the paritiontable, it's trying to recover it.
But at least some time ago, it didn't work well for logical partitions

Does it?
I don't know how you partitioned your drive, but if you think it is correct
you can try to restore it. But if it isn't correct, an attempt to restore it
will
most certainly destroy data.

The fact that the partition check in the beginning doensn't show the
logicals
means that you paritiontable is no longer complete.
I can only guess why that happened, but it sure isn't going to boot linux
from
a non-existing logical paritition.

Go get findpart.exe and run it.
Then post the results back.
That's your best bet to recover all the data.
(findpart is another tool that can help you recover your partitiontable)
If you're not interested in that data, just reinstall linux.

overlooked this the first time.
How do you want to access this partition?
The default DOS MBR can only boot a primary partition.
Put LILO either in the MBR or in the extended partition.

Do only X-apps crash? Then it is very likely that your X configuration
is the problem. (Compile something big, so that your memory is used heavily)

Not really, cause the part we are interested in you have cut out.
We need the lines before the '*** [Ksyms.o] ERROR 1' to tell us
what the error is.

This if for Address Family 10 - IP version 6. These address families can be
found in your_kernel_source_path/include/linux/socket.h as AF_xxxx macros.
This message is coming out because your kernel was built without IPV6 support,
which you probably don't need. Just add 'alias net-pf-10 off' to
/etc/modules.conf and the message will go away.

Date: Fri, 9 Mar 2001 16:46:54 +0200

Hi everybody,

I'm using RedHat 7.0, and i need your help with my scanner.
My scanner is Acer Brisa 620s, it working just fine in WindowsME but
in Linux i can't get it work.

Linux find SCSI card and FlatBed Scanner but that's it.
If i run XSane (or XScanImage) scanners led start to blink and program quits.
In XSane it's all the same which one device I choose, [snapscan:/dev/sga]
or [snapscan:/dev/scanner], same result.

Now I have to keep WindowsME in my computer because I need scanner,
it would be great if I could leave it off.

I'm pretty new with Linux so if you could help me solve this problem you do
me a BIG favor. Thanks already.

Here's some messages i get: (i hope these help to find out whats wrong)

When i enter 'scanimage -T' I get this message:

Since the advent of glibc2 (a.k.a. libc6), user-level programs are not
supposed to #include <asm/*.h> files directly. You probably need to try
another approach.

Any suggestions for a fix?
