I know that svga lib is the one that is used to view graphic of whatever
without using X. Im wondering there are others other than SVGA? Is there a
3D library such as OpenGL to view 3d image without X?

I'm trying to install Redhat 7.0 on my computer and I cannot get the thing
to boot after installation no matter what I try. I have several SCSI drives
attached to an adaptec 2940UW. One drive (sda) has win2k installed on it,
and I'm trying to install Linux onto a different drive (sdd). I know it's
not the 1024-cylinder problem because the drive I'm installing to only has
522 cylinders. Installation appears to go fine - I choose to install LILO
but not to the MBR and I create a boot disk, but then when I try to boot
from the boot disk it starts loading linux (it gets to the point where it
says "Loading linux.................") and then it says "Error 0x10". I
tried installing mandrake 7.0 and the same thing happened. Anybody have any
idea what's going on?
thanks,

A lot depends on what "it" is.
Linux can easily be argued to be a better file server than Windows, a
better firewall OS than Windows, and a more affordable/flexible desktop
OS than Windows.
Everything depends on one's skillset and one's priorities.
If one has an interest in running games or certain high-profile retail
software products, it is possible that Windows is a better choice.
If you don't, Linux might actually be a better alternative.

I think you can delete the new linux partition and then using fips
reduce the size of windows partition to bare minimum.
After that you can create a linux partition of 6GB size then create a
new partition which will become d drive on windows.
That's how I have setup my machine.

Hi Trent,
looks like you have exactly the same problem I had.
spent a couple of weeks going round in circles
trying to get the D-link to work and failed
miserably. In the end I swapped it for an old D-link
realtek card which works fine. I have my suspicions
that D-link have changed something in the card
without telling anyone, but of course I have no
evidence to back that up.
Hope you have better luck than I had.

Do you have set LOCPATH?
Are you calling the binary or a wrapper (which sets variables)?
Does anything like that happen with any other program than Netscape and SO?
See your version of environ(5) [manpage in section 5] about
other possible "non standard" Environmentvariables influencing
this national language supprt stuff.
Otherwise i guess you have set some standard variables in your
environment (LANG, LC_CTYPE, perhaps even LC_ALL, perhaps other LC_*)
and netscape is stumbling over something...
Which locale categories have you set? locale(1).
Which categories do you really want to set and with what
value [see URL] (perhaps only LC_CTYPE?). Start netscape with a
minimum (no locale at all for debuging)
Use strace(1) to find out where netscape is eventually failing.
The "locale `C' not supported either" is very suspicious.
Perhaps your locale installation is broken (glibc upgrade
in the past?).
More info and some debug help:

Hi.
I recently bought a new hard disk. So now I have two: hda and hdb. I boot
from hda. I created a file system on hdb with the command "mkfs /dev/hdb".
mkfs warned that it had no partitions, but I just proceeded. Everything
works fine, but is there a risk that I will run into trouble later for
not partitioning hdb?
Best regards,
