OK. I'm just making sure that this is possible, because Red Hat guides
state that: "To create a dual-boot environment on a system that currently
has NT, you must install LILO on the first sector of the root partition,
not the MBR."
I have also assumed, that NT or 2k won't boot if it doesn't
own the MBR. Glad that you made it. How did you install the OS's? First
the M$ stuff and then Linux, writing the MBR over?

Yes, I assume that I know what rows in lilo.conf mean. I just asked that
also to know if there was something special.
Just asked both due to scepticism on 2k booting without 'owning' the MBR.
Didn't want to experiment, you know?
Anyway this prob below was odd, I thought that newer lilo's could load
with that lba32 setting the OS being quite far from beginning of drive. Or
is that the problem I'm having?

Hello!
Thanks a lot for your e-mails the last week. I have been able to reduce
my kernel from 1800 Kb to 925 Kb, but, unfortunately, it is not small
enough. I know that less than 810 Kb would be OK, because my old kernel
has this size. Following your recomendation I run make mrproper, make
xconfig, make dep, make clean, make bzImage, make modules and make
modules_install. Then I rename properly the kernel and run lilo.
Everytime I get "Kernel is too big". xconfig is a great tool, but I have
removed or changed to module all the components except the really
needed.
Can I reduce the size of the kernel in other way?
Can I increase the allowed size of the kernel?
Thanks,
Al

Careful about this. First it says it wants the size in blocks when
actually it wants in bytes. Then after resizing, the partition table
is not updated and hence you need to use fdisk to delete & recreate
the partition to reflect the new size in the partition table(scary).
Better to use partition magic.

RH7 like to create a bunch of partitions by default that look sort of like
this:
Filesystem 1k-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/hda8 256667 256667 0 100% /
/dev/hda1 23302 4993 17106 23% /boot
/dev/hda6 9005272 7984916 562908 94% /home
/dev/hda5 9005272 3278716 5269108 39% /usr
/dev/hda7 256667 256667 0 100% /var
none 256667 256667 0 100% /proc/bus/usb
so I have the problem that I have too much space on some and not enough on
others... it's difficult and inconvenient to have to figure out how much
space I need so I'd like to mae all these just one: /.
since a dump/repartition/restore would be difficult for me because I don't
have an easy way to dump, can anyone suggest a way to join all these
partitions into one?

verify that you have some similar to

alias eth1 3c59x
in your /etc/conf.modules or /etc/modules.conf file and then send the output
of
rmmod eepro100

boot a rescue system.
You're question probably is, how to do that.
(PS. there is no linux 6.0, so I suppose you mean RedHat 6.0)
Put the CD in the drive, reboot and at the liloprompt, enter "linux rescue"
Now examine what is wrong with your system.
(I suppose you know what to do from here?)

I used version 1.5(if I'm not wrong) just a month ago. It did not
update the partition table. I was really surprised. Had to do it
through ranish partman.
Also I'm very sure it did not take size in blocks or cylinder. I had
to give a huge number which was bytes if I'm not wrong.
Which version are you using? I think I'll try once again.

The G450 is supported by XFree86, you just don't have
