Hmmm. I have 512 MBytes SDRAM and 128 MBytes swap. I don't remember any such
warnings at all.
RedHat 7.1 upgraded from 7.0 just fine on this machine.

I have 2 empty partitions on my drive which I can't get rid of.
I have
/dev/hda1 ~2gb VFat
/dev/hda2 Empty
/dev/hda3 Empty
/dev/hda4 24gb VFAT
I can't seem to get rid of them and Suse will only let me create logical
partitions and fails during installation.
I have tried fdisk and sfdisk I don't have cfdisk on any emergency disks.
Any ideas or do I trash the whole thing somehow

I've had no problems with my LinkSys PCMLM56 combination ethernet 10/100 + 56K
modem card. Unlike some cards, it has no dongle cable to lose/break, since the
ethernet and modem ports are built in. Also, unlike the Xircom RealPort it
only takes 1 slot, but it does jut out of the slot, and can only be put in the
top slot if you are using 2 cards. The one downside is the card is not a
cardbus card, which means you will get a some less performance than you would
with a cardbus card.

Nope, I'm replying only to the newsgroups. If you can't spend a few days
browsing through the newsgroup, obviously getting the information isn't that
important to you.

Hi,
I installed Linux Redhat 7.0 without any problems. In text mode
everything is working ok... but in graphical mode I'm only able to have
a resolution of 640x480. Whatever I tried nothing to get it working. Is
it the the card or the driver which is causing the problem.
I tried Xconfigurator but when I select 800x600 8 bits or 16 bits there
was a message Xconfigurator discovered a problem with my card. What is
going on? 8 Mb should be enough for 800x600 16bits right?
Who encountered the same problem? How can I get this problem solved?
Thanks in Advance,
Joeze

If you don't mind loosing the contents of the whole drive, you can zero
it using
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/hda
which will overwrite the whole drive with zero's.
This will cure any corrupted partition table problems.

All other solutions out of the way you may have a bad ISO or cd. I had
many many troubles with 6.2 till I got a hold of a factory CD then all my
troubles mysteriously vanished...

Subject: Install freeze on RH 7.1 and Mandrake 8.0
From: Steve Bradtke <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Date: Mon, 30 Apr 2001 21:06:57 GMT
I have a problem installing either RH 7.1 or Mandrake 8.0.
In either case, installation never really starts. I'm
allowed to choose installation mode, after which the initial
boot system is loaded from the CD ROM and the hardware
system is checked over. However, when it comes time for the
installation utility to come up, the system just hangs. For
example, in Mandrake 8.0 installation, I finally get a
message about drinking eggs and welcome to linux
mandrake. Then the system completely freezes. Selection of
any other installation mode, such as expert or rescue, all
lead to a freeze up at the same point.
I had no problems at all installing RH 7.0 or Mandrake 8.0
on the same system. I`m using an Abit VP6 dual processor
motherboard, with 2 P-III 800`s, 3 HDD`s (windows installed
on 1), a cdrom, and a cd-rw. Using an SB Live sound card,
and an Asus AGP-7100 graphics card.
On the theory that it might be useful, I've appended the dmesg
log from a successful boot into Mandrake 7.2
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Steve

I just want to compile the NTFS module for my laptop. Any idea why Red

I should configure the email service but i've find the problem that I've

Not sure about this one, mine is set -r-sr-sr-x (chmod 6555), but first
try
the above, as your setting could work, depending on your system/sendmail
version.

^^^^^^^^
This should be your problem "chmod 755 /etc/mail" should get you running
again.
Good luck
