Subject: SuSE 7.0 - Sendmail Error - 550 5.7.1 Relaying Denied
Date: Thu, 3 May 2001 14:39:06 +0100
Hi,
My organisation has a mail server / gateway running SuSE 7.0 and a near
standard sendmail.cf. Hosts inside the network are masqueraded through the
gateway and use it as their outgoing SMTP mail server. The good news is
that this works fine. The bad news is that when we set up a duplicate link
using what appears to be an identical server configuration serving another
masqueraded network, the mail is bounced. The errors as reported in
/var/log/mail are below:
=============================================================
May 3 11:23:06 will sendmail[10416]: f43AN5L10416: ruleset=check_rcpt,
arg1=<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, relay=[123.456.789.00], reject=550 5.7.1
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>... Relaying denied. IP name lookup failed [123.456.789.00]
==============================================================
I have been able to get the service to work by commenting out the check_rcpt
recipe in sendmail.cf but I am keen to know why this setup works on one box
but not on another.
The sendmail.cf (with commented out check_rcpt ruleset) is below:
Any help gratefully appreciated.
