"0"???? I'd say that might be a problem.
What are the relevant lines out of /etc/modules.conf (or conf.modules if
the former doesn't exist).

Reply-To: tgm
First, does anyone know when rpm2html/rpmfind will get rpm 4.0 db
support? Downgrading my rpm software is really not an option at this
time.
Next... I have a development machine that is used primarily for
evaluating packages, etc. This has me installing/uninstalling rpms a
lot. I have another machine that has lots of disk and have setup a
variety of rpm mirrors. I have the file systems that contain these
mirrors mounted locally via samba (I know it sounds stupid, but it's
an NT box with lots of disk and interoperability is a big part of what
I'm up to anyway). Installing/upgrading rpm's is no problem with this
arrangement and I have been able to create rdf databases with rpm2html
for these local mirrors. Here is what I would like to do further... I
would like to download a variety other distribution rdf files and add
them to the local database without needing to actually maintain the
rpm mirrors themselves. I have no problem downloading the rdf's but
the rpm2html process deletes them all out if they are not specified in
the rpm2html.config file. If I try to dummy something up, rpm2html
complains that the rpm's are missing. Is there a solution to this
problem? Maybe some undocumented directives for the rpm2html.config
file? I know that rpmfind could be used, but I have some bandwidth
issues that can't be fixed any time soon.
And last... Is the code available for the search engine used on the
rpmfind.net website? Maybe it's using something standard but the
specific config would be helpful instead of reinventing the wheel.
BTW... Using rebuilt versions of rpm2html (1.5-1) and rpmfind (1.6-1)
that handle some of my local library issues. Seem to work fine.
Thanks in advance.

Good point! However, doesn't IRQ 0 sometimes mean "auto-detect"?

modules.conf follows:
alias net-pf-4 ipx
pre-install pcmcia_core /etc/rc.d/init.d/pcmcia start
alias usb-interface usb-uhci
alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc
alias sound-slot-0 emu10k1
pre-install plip modprobe parport_pc ; echo 7 > /proc/parport/0/irq
alias scsi_hostadapter aic7xxx
alias eth0 via-rhine
Thanks also for the link to the diagnostic programs, I'll run them right
away.

It seems to me you might be in need of an 'options' line for the
module. I've had to do that on occasion.
The driver docs might have some pointers on this.

Linux is installed on /dev/hdb(with lilo on the MBR) and has been booted up
fine.
Win98 is installed on /dev/hdb and has been booted up fine.
3. The lines have been added to lilo
my lilo.conf is :
boot=/dev/hda
vga=normal
read-only
prompt
timeout=80
default = dos
#noyau 2.2.16-22
image = /boot/vmlinuz-2.2.16-22

When I boot up with lilo(booting up from IDE-0), and choose win98, I got the

Hello all,
Brief History: Having used commercial systems since the early 1970's
and like most people being sucked into the MS-Windows hype, I thought
I'd give Linux a try. Bought a cheap package with Linux Mandrake 6.5
plus some other bits - worked after a fashion. Then bought a book to
learn about the Mandrake distribution and this had v7.0 - the
difference was startling! Everything now seems to work - except for
Internet access (I regret to say that this post is under Win98 but at
least using an effective mail and news reader in the form of Forte's
Agent - full version and paid for!- & not MS Outlook.)
I can connect with my ISP and logged on using Kppp. When I fire up
Netscape it just can't find anything. I think this is because DNS by
default is running whereas under Win98 all that happens is TCP/IP &
DHCP run - no mention of DNS, because of course all UK ISP's are
geared to MS and they don't support connection under DNS just DHCP.
Can anyone point me to an article/manual that a Win98/NT semi techie
will understand?
Thanks

Thank you very much!
The problem is now fixed, and I am posting this reply using KNode on my
fully operational PPPoE connection, on a Linux box, connected to the
Internet :)
To explain what happened:
-I went to the above-mentioned page.
-I then downloaded the via-rhine.c diagnostic program. Compiled it. Ran it.
-Output from the program was: "The card has not been assigned an interrupt
number. [...other stuff...] Go see
http://www.scyld.com/expert/irq-conflict.html"
-Went and saw that web page. Right there, there was a paragraph saying:
No IRQ Assignment: Reported IRQ 0 or IRQ 255
If the card is reporting IRQ0 or IRQ255, that indicates the card has not
been assigned an interrupt. There are two likely fixes: either the BIOS
does not have enough IRQ lines available for PCI devices (e.g. all are
assigned to "legacy" ISA devices instead of "PnP"), or the BIOS has a "PnP
OS" or "Windows 9x support" setting that must be disabled. Yes, the "PnP
OS" label is confusing: setting "PnP OS" to on is actually bad.
-That was my problem. I went into the BIOS, disabled the "Plug & Play OS"
option, and this allowed the BIOS to assign interrupts to both my sound
card and NIC, fixing both my problems at once!
-Then rebooted into Linux, and ADSL worked from the first shot.
Thanks for pointing me to the diagnostic program; without it, I'd have
probably kept searching for a long time :)
Cheers,
Jonathan Joseph
