Well I think if this were the case more often, things would be different.
BUT, in a "typical day" I have seen peach tree accounting crash the
system 2-3 times. Or my favorite is the spelling checker with Word 97
that will crash at least every 3 time I used it. Failure on
the Windows 3.x and 9x platform is usually more catastrophic (reboot)
Who knows why these system crashes (application or windows)?
I really do not care now that I use Linux almost exclusively.
What I have seen is PC users tend to reach a point of equalibrium
- they have 2-3 critical applications that work and do not expect/want
much esle. Indeed, there are many people who do not
want to upgrade (even windows 3.1) because the fear the delicate
balance will be lost (something that used to work will not after
the upgrade). I can not blame them because the PC market is
full of upgrade horror stories. What a way to invest you
IT dollars - your damned if you do and you are damned if you don't.
But then there is Linux...
