Hello Everyone,
I have an IBM PC 325, Dual PII-300mhz, 128MB Ram, Adaptec 2940
controller, a WD 4.3GB SCSI drive, an Intel 10/100 Etherexpress Pro.
I am running Red Hat 5.1 (2.0.35) and have complied the kernel with SMP
support (by modifing the Makefile) built into it.
The system runs great except when it boots it does not come up woth two
processors, only one. A cat /proc/cpuinfo shows it as a 686 with about
300 bogomips, but never shows the second processor.
When the server powers on, it show that there are two processors
installed.
I tried recompling several times and finally decided to try a working
smp kermel off of an IBM 704 (Dual Pentium Pro) but otheriwise the same
system. I copied the kernel over, modified my ./etc/lilo.conf, reran
lilo and rebooted. Again, same thing. Boots and works wonderful except
it does not see the second processor. A uname -a verifies that I am in
fact running the kernel from the other machine.
Does anyone have some words of wisdom for me? Any suggestions would be
greatly appreciated.
Thanks In Advance.
