I'd say that this is just rumour. I suspect this came about because of the
bug that causes a hard lockup under 2.0, but which is hidden under 2.1 by the 
change in the memory/segmentation layout. Certainly my own experience has been 
that the K6 is a fine (and stable) chip to run (K6-200 stepping 2).
