I normally wouldn't clutter the list with this religious stuff but I must
add another point.  Adaptec lost a chunk of money last year because of
slow sales.  This may have been a major reason they decided that they
couldn't afford to alienate any customers (i.e. support Linux/Free BSD).
Previous to last year, they never officially supported Linux but there
were many Linux fans employed at Adaptec.  Unlike another large software
concern that I will not mention, Adaptec is in some financial trouble.  I
personally would not like to see them go out of business.

Anyway, more to the point.  If a company decides to support Linux and
consequently sees their sales increase, that is a very good thing for the
Linux community.  If a company bothers to support Linux and sees no change
in their sales, that is not a very good thing for the Linux community.  At
this point Adaptec should be considered an ally of the Linux community and
not be complained about.
