anything with the symbios chipset works fine, at least here. A year ago
I had serious problems using an adaptec controller with SMP and replaced
it with the bt958, which worked perfectly. And more recently my quad xeon
came with three symbios scsi channels (2 16 bit and 1 8 bit) that also
work fine. I have heard from others that use controllers with the symbios
chipset but for the life of me can't recall the name of the board that
uses them (a PCI slot version) although it was reported to work well.
LVDS is pretty fast, for sure...
